What are the Melbourne Criterium Sprint Championships?

Welcome to one of the toughest, richest and most iconic bike races Australia has ever seen. This will be a race to remember, setting a new benchmark for spectacular action and criterium competition. The 90 Minute Elite Men’s Team criterium race with a total cash prize pool of $17,500 will test some of the world's best professionals. The Men's Elite Race prize pool consists of place getters, a sprint points competition, most aggressive rider and 20 (yes 20) $500 sprint primes. In addition to the cash prize for each sprint and finish places, the first three riders in each sprint prime will receive points, which will accumulate during the race. The three riders with the highest points will receive prize money.

Some of the best international and Australian professional teams and riders are signed up, as this race will be the perfect hit out in the lead up to the Jayco Herald Sun Tour, Bay Crits, Nationals and Tour Down Under. This landmark event will sell out quickly, so you will need to form a team and enter faster than Mark Renshaw in a sprint. A full day of action is planned starting with support races from 7:30am and extending right through to the feature Elite Women's and Elite Men's events.

The event will be supported by the Soul Kitchen Cafe, DJ Kinky and commentary by the voice of Australian cycling Matthew Kennan as well as Olympian Robbie Crowe and Peter 'Monty' Montgomery.
